Santi celebrates opening goal for Gunners

Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck scored in the first half as Arsenal won 2-1 at West Ham in the Premier League this afternoon.

Kouyate pulled a goal back for the Hammers in the second half, but the Gunners held on to earn the three points.

The Gunners took the lead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute.

Santi Cazorla was tripped by Winston Reid and he stepped up to tuck the penalty away.

Arsenal made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time (44 minutes), whenOxlade-Chamberlain made run down the right, cut the ball back forWelbeck to turn it in from the six-yard line.

The half-time score was harsh on West Ham who had played very well in the opening 45 minutes.

West Ham got a goal back on 54 minutes, when Tomkins broke down the right and crossed into the box for Kouyate whose header looped into the net off Debuchy.

In an open second half both sides created chances, but surprisingly there were no further goals.

So an important three points for the Gunners in beating the team who started immediately above them in the Premier League table by one point.

The four teams in the top four all drew this afternoon.

With leaders Chelsea held 1-1 at fourth placed Southampton.

Second placed Manchester City threw away a two goal half-time lead at home to Burnley. With the Clarets fighting back to draw 2-2.

Third placed Manchester United drew 0-0 at Tottenham.
