Flamini says current Gunners squad has mentality to compete with the best teams
Mathieu Flamini maintains the current squad has the mentality needed to compete with the best teams.
The Arsenal players mental strength has, once again, been questioned after their 6-0 loss at Chelsea was followed up by a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea. Their mental resolve will be further tested by Manchester City on Saturday.
Flamini said: “I feel like there are more leaders on the pitch, more personality, more character.
“That’s very important because it was maybe missing a bit in the past couple of years but I feel like this year we have more leaders, more characters and it is very important to keep going in this direction.
“The communication on the pitch is very important because that makes the difference.”
Wenger has again found his unwavering faith in the squad challenged on the back of some poor performances in key games.
Flamini, however, insists everyone with the club is fully united.
“Being a player on the pitch you always try to give your maximum and give back the trust the manager gave us by putting us there,” he said.
“For me it is important to give the maximum, afterwards what the press say or what is said around is not our problem.
“We have to stay focused, concentrate on our game and like I said, every time we go on the pitch we give 100 per cent.”
What do you think. Do the squad have the required mentality to compete with the best teams.
