Casey celebrates her winning goal against Liverpool

A goal from Casey Stoney helped Arsenal Ladies secure their first FA Women’s Super League win of the season against Liverpool Ladies on Sunday.

Casey’s goal in the 55th minute, which went into the net via her face, was enough to secure Arsenal three vital points as they look to climb the table after a poor start to the season.

Arsenal fully merited their narrow victory in a hard-fought match against the reigning FA Women’s Super League champions.  Arsenal Ladies created a number of chances in each half, but were unable to add to Stoney’s bizarre goal.

In a nervy finish they held on for a morale boosting first league win of the season.

It was the perfect way for interim coach John Bayer to start his short spell in charge as the club continue their search for Shelley Kerr’s successor.

Can Arsenal Ladies build on this win to mount a title challenge.
