Arsene praise for hat-trick hero Alexis

Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media after Arsenal’s 5-1 win against West Ham, at the London Stadium this evening.

Alexis Sanchez scored a second half hat-trick as Arsenal romped to a win that moves them up to second place in the Premier League table.

Sanchez has now scored five goals in his last two appearances to keep the Gunners three points behind leaders Chelsea.

Sanchez also set up the first-half opening  goal for Mesut Ozil, before firing in a fourteen minute hat-trick in the second half.

Andy Carroll scored a consolation goal for West Ham, with Alex Oxlade Chamberlain scoring the Gunners fourth goal.

Sanchez has now scored eleven Premier League this season, and has been involved in twenty-three goals in his last twenty-four Premier League appearances (17 goals, 6 assists).

“We had a convincing performance and strong result”, Wenger told BBC sport.

“We created many chances and you could see West Ham are not a confident team at home. On top of that we had a strong performance.

Alexis Sanchez – it took him a while mentally to get into the game, but he can always give you something special. He’s a fighter and a classy player. You don’t find many players like him. He can always surprise you. He also has great technique as well.

I believe we are on a strong run and it’s down to us to be mentally ready to maintain that run.”
