Youngsters taking chance to shine as Arsenal Under-21s win again
Arsenal Under-21s maintained their perfect start to the season with a convincing 5-0 win over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
The victory sent the young Gunners to the top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Division 2 on goal difference over West Bromwich Albion.
Many of the players who featured regularly for the Arsenal Under-21s last season such as Chuba Akpom, Dan Crowley and Isaac Hayden are out on loan to teams in the Championship and in League 1.
This has given the next generation of Arsenal starlets the opportunity to step up to play for the Under-21s side.
Goals from Kaylen Hinds (14th minute) and Stephy Mavididi (15th minute) put the Gunners in charge on Friday night.
Mavididi’s second goal in the 49th minute put the outcome beyond doubt.
Glen Kamara added a fourth in the 58th minute, with Ben Sheaf completing the scoring in the 89th minute from the penalty spot after a foul on substitute Chris Willock.
