Hugo Lloris to follow Sol Campbell down the Seven Sisters Road to Arsenal!
The rumours persist that Arsenal are in the market to sign a new goalkeeper.
Wojciech Szczesny has lost his place to David Ospina as the starting Gunners goalkeeper for Premier League matches.
Ospina now has an opportunity to convince Arsene Wenger that he has what it takes to become the long-term Gunners number 1.
Whilst Szczesny will be hoping to regain Wenger’s confidence following his poor display at Southampton on New Year’s Day, and subsequent disciplinary issues.
Szczesny started in the 3-2 win at Brighton last Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round, but is likely to be on the bench for the visit of Aston Villa to the Emirates tomorrow.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Arsene’s Wenger is not convinced by either Szczesny or Ospina, and is targeting Hugo Lloris.
It’s not the first time that the Lloris to Arsenal rumours have surfaced.
The Gunners were linked with Lloris before he joined Spurs in 2012.
Lloris was reported to have signed a new five-year contract with Spurs in the summer, which seemed to end any speculation about him wanting to leave.
So a large fee would be involved to prise him away from the Lane.
Newspaper reports this morning suggest that Tottenham would be prepared to do business to sell Lloris for a fee of £25m.
Even if Lloris wanted the move, it’s difficult to envisage Tottenham doing business with Arsenal.
It makes for an eye-catching transfer rumour headline, but it’s very unlikely to happen.
