Arsenal face Champions League challenge from France, Switzerland and Bulgaria

Arsenal will begin their Champions League campaign against French champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, Paris on Tuesday 13 September.

Arsenal have only faced PSG twice before in European competition; in the 1993-94 Cup Winners’ Cup semi finals (W1 D1). The Gunners went on to win the final 1-0 against Parma in Copenhagen, with Alan Smith scoring the winning goal.

Matchday 2 will see the Gunners host Swiss champions FC Basel at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, September 28.

It’s a clash that will see Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny facing their former club.

Granit will also face his brother Taulant who plays for Basel.

Arsenal have won all four of their previous meetings in European competition against Swiss sides.

Arsenal will then take on PFC Ludogorets Razgrad in Matchday 3 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, October 19.

Arsenal will play against a Bulgarian team in a competitive fixture for the first time ever when they face Ludogorets.
