Reigning FA Women’s Cup champions Arsenal made light work of progressing to the FA Women’s Cup quarter-finals by beating the Millwall Lionesses 7-0 yesterday.

Danielle Carter scored a hat-trick while Lianne Sanderson, Jordan Nobbs, Natalia Pablos Sanchon and Carla Humphrey also netted.

Speaking after the match Arsenal Ladies manager Pedro Losa said:

“Danielle could have scored a few more goals,” Losa told Arsenal.com. “She was fantastic all over the pitch so we have a young player who is developing well and we are very happy with her.

“Carla was also phenomenal. They all did a good job and we still have more options like Leah Williamson on the bench, and Rachel Yankey and Kelly Smith who were not in the squad.

“We gave opportunities to players, they responded very well and having a big squad with lots of energy will be very important for us. You win trophies with a squad, not just a team of 11 players.

“All of our players are now in the position to compete and that’s what I’m trying to do, keep all of the players [available] so that we have the greatest chance of being successful this season.”

Arsenal are joined in the last 8 by Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Chelsea, Manchester City and Notts County. The quarter-final line-up will be completed by the winners of Everton v Bristol Academy and Coventry v Charlton.

The FA Women’s Cup Final this year will be staged at Wembley Stadium for the first time in its history.

The match will kick-off at 3pm on Saturday 1 August 2015.
