Elneny goal not enough as Gunners are eliminated

Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona at the Camp Nou tonight.

Barcelona won 3-1 on the night, to complete a 5-1 aggregate victory in the tie.

Arsenal put up a spirited performance, but Barcelona eased to victory despite not being at their free-flowing best.

The Gunners will be left to rue a number of missed chances in both ties as they exit the Champions League last 16 stage once again

Barca opened the scoring in the 18th minute. Laurent Koscielny played a sloppy pass out of defence, which was intercepted and fed through to Luis Suarez. He played in Neymar who stroked the ball low into the net from 12 yards past David Ospina.

Arsenal equalised in the 51st minute when Mohamed Elneny swept the ball into the top corner from the 18-yard line from an Alexis Sanchez cross.

Suarez put Barcelona back in the lead in the 65th minute, when he volleyed in a cross from Dani Alves.

Lionel Messi completed the scoring in the 88th minute, with a dink over David Ospina from 10 yards out.
