Arsene Wenger confirms Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out for up to seven weeks
Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s vital Premier League clash with Manchester United, at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Wenger confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury against Barcelona on Tuesday night.
“We lost Oxlade-Chamberlain and it is quite serious, Wenger said.
“It will keep him out for a few weeks.”
He added that could mean “two or three weeks” or perhaps “six or seven” depending on the verdict of a specialist.
On other team news for Sunday, Wenger confirmed that Gabriel faces a fitness test after missing the last three matches with a hamstring injury.
Arsenal will be seeking a first Premier League win at Old Trafford since 2006, with Wenger saying.
“It is a special place and it is always a special fixture for any side.
“If we win it puts us in a strong position (in the Premier League title race) but there is still a long way to go.”
