Arsene Wenger on Mesut Ozil: ”He looks more of a leader, he’s worked hard”
Arsene Wenger believes that Mesut Ozil’s scintillating form is down to the hard work the German undertook when he was injured and increasing maturity.
Ozil has 16 goal assists in the Premier League this season and is on course to break Thierry Henry’s assist record of 20. He also scored a sublime goal against Bournemouth on Monday night.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Saturday, Wenger said of Ozil.
“His main work was when he was injured, he worked very hard physically.
“He’s a complete athlete. This season he has not been stopped by injuries.
“He’s accepted and not so much questioned as in the years before.
He’s 27, he wants to be efficient in every single game. I believe he’s grown on the mental front, and he’s now more ready to lead the team than when he arrived.”
