Arsene Wenger hails Don Howe as an extraordinary man” and an “exceptional coach”
Arsène Wenger has paid tribute to Don Howe, who sadly passed away on the 23rd December aged 80.
The Arsenal players wore black armbands to commemorate Howe’s death in the defeat to Southampton yesterday, and after the match Wenger paid tribute to him.
“Unfortunately for Don, we couldn’t win the game for him here,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“I would have loved to do that for him because he was a great Arsenal coach, a great Arsenal man and has contributed tremendously to the success of this club.
“His special qualities were his huge football knowledge, his passion and his desire to help people.
“He was an extraordinary man and you will not see one player who worked with Don Howe who does not have a huge respect for him. I personally feel he has been fantastic for Arsenal and was an exceptional coach as well.”
